Decking cleaning across North Wales
Timber decking stripped of algae and the green film that makes it slippery once it gets wet. Cleaned along the grain so the boards are not furred up.

The green film is the dangerous part
The slippery layer on decking through autumn and winter is algae, and it is the reason most people ring about decking at all. It is a genuine safety problem on steps and on anything raised, and it comes back every year on decking that never dries out properly.
Along the grain, not across it
Timber is soft, and a lance held too close raises the grain and leaves the boards furred and splintery. Cleaning along the grain at a sensible pressure gets the same result without wrecking the surface. Composite decking is harder wearing but still marks, so it takes the gentler treatment too.
Common questions
Will it damage the timber?
Not at the right pressure, worked along the grain. Too much pressure raises the grain and leaves the boards rough.
Do you oil or stain afterwards?
No. We clean it. Cleaning is the job that has to happen first if you are planning to treat it, and the timber needs to dry before anything goes on.
Can you do composite decking?
Yes. It is harder wearing but it still holds algae in the grooves.
