Walls and brickwork

Wall and brickwork cleaning

Washed down including the mortar lines, where most of the dirt actually sits. Pressure set to suit what the wall is made of.

The mortar is the bit that matters

On most walls the brick is in better condition than the mortar between it, and the mortar is where the dirt and the growth sit. Old lime mortar and weathered pointing will not take the pressure that the brick will. Where the pointing has already failed, more pressure takes it out, so we set the machine to the weakest part of the wall rather than the strongest.

Painted walls need a decision first

Pressure strips paint. Sometimes that is what you want and sometimes it very much is not, so on painted brick and painted render we agree what is supposed to happen before anything is switched on.

Common questions

Will it blow the pointing out?

Not if the pressure is set for the mortar rather than the brick. Where pointing has already failed we will point that out on the visit rather than discover it with a lance.

Can you clean painted brick?

Yes, carefully. Pressure will strip paint, so we agree first whether that is wanted.

Do you do stonework?

Yes. Stone and the mortar around it, at a pressure that suits both.
